Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath flagged off the first IndiGo Airlines flight connecting Lucknow and Varanasi on Thursday, August 10, 2023. The flight will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The flight will take just 70 minutes to travel between the two cities, which is a significant reduction from the previous travel time of over two hours. The new flight will make it easier for pilgrims and tourists to travel between the two cities, which are both major religious and cultural destinations.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, CM Yogi Adityanath said that the new flight would boost tourism and economic development in the region. He also said that the government was committed to providing world-class infrastructure to the state, including in the aviation sector.
