The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched a centralized web portal called UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits – Gateway to Access inforMation) to help people find their unclaimed bank deposits. The portal was launched on April 6, 2023, and currently has information on unclaimed deposits from 7 banks, namely:
- State Bank of India (SBI)
- Bank of Baroda (BoB)
- Punjab National Bank (PNB)
- Union Bank of India (UBI)
- Canara Bank
- Indian Bank
- Bank of India (BoI)
- Central Bank of India (CBI)
The search facility for remaining banks on the portal will be made available in a phased manner by October 15, 2023.
To use the UDGAM portal, you will need to provide the following information:
- Your name
- Your date of birth
- The name of the bank where you had the deposit
- The type of deposit (savings account, fixed deposit, etc.)
- The account number (if you know it)
Once you have submitted this information, the portal will search for any unclaimed deposits in your name. If any unclaimed deposits are found, the portal will provide you with the details of the deposit, such as the amount, the date of maturity, and the contact details of the bank.
You can then contact the bank to claim your unclaimed deposit.
The UDGAM portal is a welcome initiative by the RBI to help people find their unclaimed bank deposits. It is a convenient and easy-to-use portal that can help you track down your unclaimed deposits and claim them.
